Portmarnock padel players who participate in the game of padel and associated events be it at any venue agree to conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner both on and off the courts.
Portmarnock padel players agree that the goal is to provide an environment where all players can play the game to the best of their ability, to learn and most importantly to have FUN! Respect must be shown to all both on and off the courts. Good sportsmanship must always be exhibited when playing or observing others. Refusing to play with a less experienced player is considered unsportsmanlike behavior. Under NO circumstances may a padel player act in an intimidating manner or direct any form of foul or abusive language or gestures at others on or near the courts. Padel players will refrain from verbally or physically abusing opponents’ officials or spectators. Padel players must also be respectful of opposition players and those on adjacent courts. Padel players must respect the property of others and not willfully cause damage at any venue. Padel players must always comply fully with current health and safety protocols as required by the Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Centre.
GENERAL SPORTMANSHIP
Always respect the decisions made by the team on the receiving side. Do not take advantage of an opposing team whose skill level may be lower, instead
use the opportunity to practice different shots or even spend some time teaching them what you know. However, do not give advice to other players without their permission. Do not slam the ball directly at weaker players. Learn to play by the official rules of padel as set out by the International Padel Federation. Dress appropriately including proper footwear. Do not play on a wet court. Check the playing area before each game and correct any risks observed. If a ball is hit out of court, play stops immediately, SHOUT BALL. If the ball is to be returned to you, raise your padel in the air to get the attention of the player returning the ball. Announce the score loudly before each service. Players will call the balls in or out on their side of the court. Spectators do not make line calls. No player should question an opponent’s call unless asked by the opponent. All out calls must be made instantly otherwise the ball is presumed in and still in play. If one player calls a ball in and the partner calls it out then doubt exists and the ball is declared in. All ball calls should be called promptly and loudly regardless of how obvious they may seem. All players should strive for accuracy in making calls and the opponent will always
get the benefit of the doubt on calls, If someone falls on court all play stops until their needs are met. A first aid kit is available at PSLC reception. Player safety is a priority.
